Hynd ShirleyHYND, Shirley Ann (nee STEPHENSON)   - Born on June 26, 1937 in East York to Ethel Hogben and George Stephenson.

Died peacefully, at Michael Garron Hospital on May 13, 2024, surrounded by family.

Beloved wife of the late Allan for 52 years.

Cherished and loving mother of Allan and his wife, Janet and Elizabeth Marzari and her husband, Lawrence.

Dearest Gramma ("GS") to Peter and Anna and her husband, Jasbir Kooner and adored Granny to Emily Marzari and her partner, Taylor Barkey and Rachel Marzari. Proudest great-grandmother of Rowan Kooner (Baby RoRo).

Sadly, missed by her sister-in-law, Mildred Stephenson; extended family members and so many good friends and neighbours.

She will be especially missed by longtime friends, Kathy Woodward and Lillian and Norman Coker.

We'd have to agree, she made many deep and lasting friendships and her children, Allan and Elizabeth, also had careers at the Star.

Shirley was a caring and loving soul and very active in her church and her community. She opened her heart and her home to Vietnamese refugee families, youth pilgrims from Italy and a Syrian refugee.

Friends and family are invited to Heritage Funeral Centre, 50 Overlea Blvd., Toronto, 416-423-1000, on Monday, May 20th, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., to share memories and stories with Shirley's family. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Bonaventure's Parish, 1300 Leslie St., Toronto, on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow. Private cremation at a later date.

A special thank you to the exceptional staff at Michael Garron Hospital for their loving care of our Mom.

Flowers gratefully declined, if desired, donations to Ronald McDonald House Charities would be greatly appreciated.

We were blessed to have her as ours. Rest in peace Mom.
