William Allan Skribe
July 24, 1943 - January 4, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Skribe, at the age of 81, on January 4, 2025, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. Bill was born on July 24, 1943, in Victoria, BC, and raised in Kimberley, BC by Maxine and Otto.
Bill met the love of his life and beloved wife of 61 years, Kathleen (Kathy), in Nelson, BC. Their union was one of deep love, determination, and resilience. With his young family in tow, Bill completed his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta. Ontario became his forever home with the acceptance of a job at General Foods in Cobourg, followed by HR Stark in Oshawa. Bill later founded KWS Energy Services Ltd. and Durham Energy Specialist Limited, marking the legacy of his career.
Bill was deeply passionate about engineering and business, and his strong work ethic, loyalty, and care for his staff earned him respect from colleagues and the industry. He was an honorable man whose handshake and word were as binding as a contract.
Bill loved skiing, family weekends at Kirby, and traveling with Kathy to all corners of the world. Spending time poolside or pondside with family and friends brought him years of joy. His 6’-5” stature, deep voice, and caring demeanor made him a beloved gentle giant and a Great Man.
Bill is survived by his wife Kathy; daughters Cheryl (Don), Carrie (John), Leanne (Don), Marcy (Warrick); grandchildren Jessica (Dan), Hannah (Steve), Hayley, Hannah, Maya; great-grandchildren Willa-Rose, Max, Effy, Josie, Millie; sisters Shawne, Maureen; brothers-in-law Lorne (Susannah), Roy (Sue); and loving nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Windreach Farm, 312 Townline Road, Ashburn.
A mass will be held at St. Joseph’s the Worker Parish, 100 Mary Street North, Oshawa, on Friday, January 10th at 10:30am. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Oshawa Golf Club, 160 Alexandra Street, Oshawa, at 12:15pm.
