David Haldane Smith

April 19, 1933 – April 22, 2025

With sadness, we announce that David Haldane Smith passed away peacefully in the presence of his children on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

Born in Port Glasgow, Scotland on April 19, 1933, David emigrated to Canada at the age of 21 to start a new life. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Nancy Helen Smith, whom he met shortly after arriving in Toronto, Ontario.

David was a devoted father to David (Christine) Smith of Ingersoll, Catherine Belzner of Port Burwell, and Robert (Betty) Smith of Port Rowan. He delighted in spending time with his grandchildren Heather, Christopher, Jessica, Josh (Jen), and his great-granddaughter Lily.

As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no celebration of life. David preferred that no fuss be made over him.

Those wishing to make a donation in his memory are encouraged to do so to a charity of their choice.
