It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Percy James Steele on Monday, November 18th, 2024, at Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay, surrounded by his loving family. Percy lived a fulfilling and hardworking life, dedicating 35 years of service to the Government of Ontario in construction before enjoying an additional 15 years at Beamish Construction following his retirement.
Percy was the beloved husband of Jean (Mitchell) Steele, sharing 69 wonderful years of marriage. He was a devoted father to Jim (Valarie) Steele, Garry (Marj) Steele, Jack (Julie) Steele, and Ann (Stan) Zerdin. Percy was a cherished grandfather to Terra (Jeff) Telford, Daryl (Amy) Steele, Mike (Stacie) Steele, Dan (Cara) Steele, Laura (Dillon) Wittick, Ali Steele-Lukas (James) Lukas, Jill (Shane) Adams, and Ryan (Trish) Steele. He was a proud great-grandfather to Noah and Ava Telford, Autumn Steele, Alex and Jacob Steele, Emery and John Steele, Harvey and Daxton Wittick, Eli and Delilah Adams, and Violet Steele.
Predeceased by his parents, Roy and Belle Steele, his brother Ernest, sister-in-law Mary, sister Bernice, brother-in-law Doug Erskine, sister Jean, brother-in-law Bob Huddleston, and brother-in-law Lorne Coulter, Percy leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will forever live in the hearts of his family and friends.
In keeping with Percy’s wishes, a private family graveside service will take place at St. Andrews Presbyterian Cemetery, Bolsover.
