Arthur (Ate) “Art” Stelpstra
1926 - November 14, 2024
“But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.” Philippians 3:20-21
Peacefully, at His appointed time, the Lord took to Himself our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, Arthur (Ate) Stelpstra, on Thursday, November 14, 2024, in his 98th year.
Arthur was the dearly loved father of Anna (Jack) Groeneveld, Joan (Rafael) Shoheb, Jack (Alice) Stelpstra, and Irene (Jake) de Boer. He was a devoted grandfather to 12 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Grace Jenny, in 2013, Arthur will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Alice Pasma; his brother, Keith Stelpstra; his many nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Ruta.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff at Dorchester Terrace for their kindness and compassion during Arthur’s time there, as well as appreciation for the many friendships he cherished during his residence.
Family and friends will be received at Forest City Community Church, East Campus, 716 Classic Drive, London, Ontario, on Monday, November 18, 2024, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the same location on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at 12 noon, officiated by Pastor Joseph Groeneveld. A private family interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
In memory of Art, memorial donations may be made to Mission Services of London or Resonate Global Mission. Arrangements are entrusted to Evans Funeral Home, 648 Hamilton Road, London, Ontario (519-451-9350). Online condolences can be shared at Evans Funeral Home.
A tree will be planted by Evans Funeral Home as a living memorial to Arthur “Art” Stelpstra. We offer our deepest sympathies to his family and friends. May his faith and love for others bring comfort and peace during this time.
