Jean Elizabeth Stevens

1945 – 2025

Peacefully, after a short illness, and with her loving daughters at her side, Jean Elizabeth Stevens passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025, at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Port Perry, at the age of 79.

Born on July 7, 1945, in Toronto to Ruth (née Stewart) and James Cully, Jean grew up in Bowmanville and later made her home in Oshawa for more than 50 years. She was the loving mother of Jennifer (predeceased), Jeanine (Glen), and Julie (Matthew), and the cherished grandmother of Zachary, Breanna, Stewart, Gavin, Emma, Joshua, Sarah, Hannah, Emily, and Kate.

Jean was a dear sister to Jamie Cully (Eileen) and Sharon Whelan, and a beloved aunt to Andrew (Carina) and Sharon (Sean). She also held a special place in her heart for Andrea Nicholls (Van De Valk), her chosen and much-adored second daughter.

A longtime and much-loved member of the Kingsview Church choir and the County Town Singers of Whitby, Jean was known for her vibrant personality, love of music and dancing, and her eye for fashion. She was a bright spirit in every room and a caring friend to many across the Region of Durham and most recently at the Villa in Port Perry.

Jean had a deep love for animals—especially her cats, who brought her great joy and companionship throughout the years. Her kindness, energy, and musical passion will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Jean rested at the Wagg Funeral Home, 216 Queen Street, Port Perry. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a local animal rescue organization of your choice in her memory.
