Gary Franklin Sutherland

1967 - November 13, 2024

Peacefully passed away with family by his side at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the age of 57 years. Gary was the beloved husband of Virginia Roote and a devoted father to Amanda (Aaron) Maynard, Lauren Sutherland (Dylan Baker), Tyra Roote (Drake Scott, predeceased), Gary Roote, Jacob Roote, Lauren Roote, and Jayda Roote.

He was a proud grandfather to Arya Maynard, Abby Maynard, Arlo Maynard, Shiye Baker, Nakoa Baker (predeceased), and Mickee Roote-Scott. Gary was the cherished son of Cheryl and the late Frank Sutherland, and a dear brother to Patricia Bauchman (Rodney Sides, predeceased) and Michael Sutherland. He will be deeply missed by his extended family members and dear friends.

Visitation will take place at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie, on Monday, November 18, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow the next day on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at the Christian Island United Church, with interment at the Christian Island United Church Cemetery.
