Gordon Bruce Sweatman

1939 - 2025

Gordon Sweatman passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, with his wife Jane by his side.

Born in Montreal, Gordon is predeceased by his father, Bertram Charles Sweatman; his mother, Estelle Norah Wilson; and his brother, Charles George Sweatman.

Gord is survived by his loving wife, Jane, of 31 years, and his five children: Ken (Margaret), Joyce (Rob), David (Yvonne), Jim (Diana), and Heather (Matt). He was a proud grandfather to fifteen grandchildren: James (Martha), Heather (Mike), Caroline, Aidan (Hannah), Christina (Josh), Alex, Hilary, Beth, Michael, Gillian, Kevin, Emma, Tyler, David, and Samantha; and a great-grandfather to Wesley. He is also lovingly remembered by Jane’s children, Jason (Kelly) and Alyson (Doug), and their children, Karlyn, Jack, and Jessica.

After a long career as a corporate tax accountant, Gord continued to serve friends and family for many years as their trusted tax accountant and investment manager. He was dedicated, hardworking, and deeply involved with his family. A gracious and kind father-in-law, he especially cherished his role as a grandfather in his later years. Gord was always happiest when surrounded by his grandchildren.

He will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 29th at The Village of Taunton Mills in the Town Hall at 1:00 PM, located at 3800 Brock St North, Whitby, Ontario L1R 3A5.
