Maureen Grace Taeger (née Goodhead)

July 6, 1945 - December 22, 2024

Maureen Grace (Goodhead) Taeger, 79, of Harriston, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 22, 2024, at the Wellington Terrace Long Term Care Home in Fergus. Beloved wife of 55 years to David Taeger. Loving mother of Allison (Mark) Wilson of Fergus, James Taeger of Fergus, Meghan (Robert) Ewing of Kitchener, and Edward (Heather) Taeger of Elmira. Cherished grandmother of Abigail (William) Hendrick, Andrew Wilson, Oliver Ewing, and Edgar Taeger.

Maureen was born in Toronto on July 6, 1945, and later moved to Barrie, where she excelled academically. After earning her BA in English from York University and her high school teaching qualifications, she moved to Englehart, where she met her husband David. They raised their family in Northern Ontario before settling in Harriston in 1987. Maureen taught English and later became one of the first Co-op teachers in Wellington County. She retired in 1999 to focus on her family but returned briefly to teaching, which brought her great fulfillment.

Maureen was happiest when surrounded by her family and loved traveling to Florida, Myrtle Beach, and visiting her sisters in Las Vegas and California. She was a talented baker, creative homemaker, and avid gardener. Her kindness, quick laugh, and unwavering dedication to her family will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Friends may call at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston, for visitation on Friday, January 10, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Knox-Calvin Presbyterian Church, Harriston, on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 1:30 p.m., with visitation from 12:00 noon until the time of service.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Wellington Terrace for their care and support in Maureen’s final months. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated. Online condolences may be left at www.hardyleefuneralhome.com.
