Next Dennis (Amy) and their children – Jonie (Brad Kondizacki), Joshua, Jessica (David Parham). Also Trudy (Ken Chiang) and Stephen (Irene Tse). Her next Son Don (Pearl) and their children Lily (Michael Adam), Gerry (Susan), Helen and Ron (Patti Allen).

Her great grandchildren include Zoe and Zara Kondizacki, Asher Parham, Zachary and Samantha Chiang, Luke Ing, Davison and Dylan Gee and Nicholas Bandurka.

Ms. Tai Har Ing came to Canada in December 2, 1960 to be married to Henry Ing in Engelhart, Ontario. Together they ran a Chinese Canadian Restaurant, The Grange Café, until it was sold in 1968. After Grandpa and Grandma decided to retire from the restaurant business, they briefly enjoyed country living on a farm before ultimately moving to Toronto. They lived in several downtown apartments eventually settling in a new apartment at Bathurst and Steeles. After Grandpa passed in 1978, Grandma lived in a rooming house for several years before moving to her apartment on Vaughan Road. She loved the view from her apartment and did not want to leave until her failing health required her to move into a Seniors home in 2019.

She was an active member of the Toronto Evangelical Church at Broadview and Gerrard and looked forward to her weekly Sunday service and social gatherings followed by picking up her weekly Chinese groceries on Broadview.

Grandma had a green thumb. She continued gardening at a community plot into her 80s and was proud of her produce.

Grandma was adventurous and loved to travel. Some of her happiest memories were the days spent in a caravan going across the USA. She also travelled east with her granddaughter Helen to see Northern Ontario and Quebec. Then she ventured west with her son-in-law Don and his wife Pearl to visit the Rockies and glaciers. She also loved going south with her son-in-law Don and his wife Pearl with the grandchildren to escape Canadian winters by going to Cuba and the Dominican Republic. Grandma continued these trips until the travel insurance companies refused to insure her.

She had family members from San Francisco (Dennis and Amy), Winnipeg (Jenny and Dick) and her Son (Don and Pearl) with Grandchildren (Lily, Gerry, Helen and Ron) in Toronto visit her. Towards her later years, she appreciated the weekly grocery runs along with Dim Sum treats. As time pasted, she got a Walker to help with stability. As she aged, she had a few falls so it was time to apply for Long Term Care. Her chosen home was Tendercare in Scarborough where she used to visit a good friend that resided there for many years.

While at Tendercare, she had regular family visits as well as visits from her Church team, also calls from family afar as well as her Son Don and family. Whenever family were in town, they made it a point to visit her. She cherished those visits. She was known amongst the Staff at Tendercare for being very intellectual and keeping up with all the comings and goings of day today life at this home. She continued to experience loneliness, however it was better than being alone in her Condo downtown. Her daily routine included the reading of the Bible and watching as others were cared for while in the dining room pointing out any omissions to Staff of other Senior Residents that needed extra care.

She loved her warm water and warm milk. Her appetite was good to the end and she enjoyed conversation in her mother tongue Toisan.

Had it not been for the spread of COVID 19 throughout Tendercare, I am sure her health would have kept her going for many more years. She was age 104 with her next birthday just days away.

Arrangements entrusted with Kane Jerrett funeral home, Thornhill.
