Hunt TerryHUNT, Terry (nee Ward) - Terry Hunt (née Ward) died peacefully, surrounded by her family at home on December 29, 2020 in Newmarket, Ontario at the age of 59, after a long and brave journey with cancer.

Terry is survived by her husband, Marc; children, Jodie (Olumide), Jason (Meaghan); granddaughter, Nina; siblings, Kelly Barnhart (Bill) and Condy Ward (Karen), of Lunenburg, Ontario.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Sheila Ward and stepfather, Aeneas Moke of Lunenburg, Ontario.

Terry was born in St. Catharines to Donald and Sheila Ward. She grew up in Long Sault and moved to Toronto to attend Ryerson University, until she was hired to work for Arbor Memorial. She married fellow Ryerson student, Marc, and welcomed their two children. The family settled into their forever home on Hodgson Dr. in Newmarket and in 2006 Terry became a proud Civilian Member of the York Regional Police.

Terry and family spent many cherished moments on Manitoulin Island at her in-laws’ home and at her and Marc’s summer cottage, “The Hunt Camp.”

Terry was a beautiful, warm and vibrant person. She will be remembered for her generosity, exceptional work ethic, and being a consummate hostess. She was intelligent, quick-witted and had an incredible sense of humour that she maintained throughout her illness. Terry shared special relationships with family, friends, colleagues, and her amazing team of health care workers. She was an avid bird watcher and kept the birds well-fed both at home and at the cottage.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date when friends and family will be welcome to attend and celebrate Terry’s life. Arrangements are entrusted with Taylor funeral home, Newmarket.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate online donations to the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre or by cheque to St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, c/o Diane Fraser, 184 Main St. Kagawong, Ontario, P0P 1J0.

The family would like to thank Dr. Labib Ahmad Abdallah Zibdawi and the Cancer Centre team at Southlake Hospital, Dr. Fan Jiang and the health care team at Toronto Western Hospital and Dr. Craig Kung and the palliative team at Southlake for the kindness and empathy they showed during Terry’s care.
