TIMONIN, Ivan Malcolm Timonin  - Ivan passed away peacefully, Sunday, June 22, 2024, after a stay at the Montfort Hospital in Ottawa.

Ivan was born in Ottawa on August 23, 1938.

He attended public school in Ottawa and Mobile, Alabama, returning to Ottawa to study Economics at Carlton University.

He enjoyed a long and successful career in the federal civil service starting with the Economic Council of Canada, moving on to the Department of Regional Economic Expansion and finishing with the Department of Immigration and Manpower, retiring as a Director General. Ivan enjoyed two overseas assignments first in Chicago and later in Stockholm.

Upon retirement, Ivan pursued further studies in theology resulting in a M.A. degree in theology from St. Paul's University in Ottawa.

Ivan was predeceased by his parents, Michael Timonin and Alison (Swaine) Timonin; and his younger sister, Jean. Left to celebrate his life are his sister, Molle of Wakefield, Quebec; and his brother, Peter (Ann) of Winnipeg. Many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, in-laws and Ivan's former wife, Karen (Page) Morantz of Summerside, PEI, remember him with fondness.

The family would like to publicly thank the medical professionals and patient sitters at the Montfort for all their care and help during Ivan's last days. A funeral at the Cathedral in Ottawa is being planned for later this year.
