Snell BobSNELL, Robert Laurence Selkirk 'Bob' - Was born, February 8, 1932, and raised in the Tomato Capital of Canada, Leamington Ontario. At the age of 88, Bob passed peacefully on May 19, 2020 at Lakeside Long Term Care in Toronto.

An Alumni of Leamington District High School, he found his way to Victoria College at the University of Toronto where he completed his B.Comm. More importantly, he met the love of his life at UofT, Diane Hillier. Married in January 1960, the family expanded with the arrival of Ted (1964), Matt (1965) and Victoria (1971).

Bob worked as an accountant, first cutting his teeth with Price Waterhouse and then moving into industry with Industrial Adhesives, ultimately becoming a Director of the firm. After his retirement from accounting he spent some time as a Registrar in her Majesty’s courts in Toronto.

Bob was fiercely devoted to his family and a man of quiet strength, good humour and sharp wit. Times spent sailing the family Albacore on Lake Ontario, relaxing in the backyard pool or having adventures at the family cottage on Sand Lake were treasured by all. Shortly before their 39th Wedding Anniversary in late 1998, Bob’s Diane was taken by cancer but his love and devotion to his children, and soon to arrive grandchildren, did not wane.

In 2001, Bob retired to his hometown of Leamington and the family house for the twilight of his years, creating a welcoming destination for family as he quietly enjoyed gardening and other offerings of the Erie North Shore. In failing health, in late 2018,  Bob returned to Toronto to be closer to all three of his children, and their families.

Bob leaves behind his children: Ted, Matt (and wife Kim) and Victoria; and Grandchildren: Mackenzie, Sierra, Paige, Griffon and Harry.  Bob was predeceased by his wife Diane and his grandson Duncan (taken far too soon in 2010).

Bob will be interred in a private ceremony in the family plot in Leamington beside his parents and his beautiful bride. A celebration of life will be held at some date in the future when the loosening of current constraints allow.

In lieu of flowers the family encourages support for Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Diabetes Canada or Friends of Point Pelee.
