Foster CynthiaFOSTER, Cynthia May (nee Ingleton) - Cynthia May Foster, nee Ingleton, age 87, died on Saturday January 9, 2021 at Trillium Hospital, Mississauga, Ontario, unexpectedly of a heart attack, joining husband Ken in life everlasting with their Lord, our God.

“Through it all, my eyes are on You and it is well with my Soul”

She was born in Jamaica July 7, 1933. There she met and married the inseparable love of her entire life, Ken (George). In 1956, with the first two of their children in tow, they began their odyssey, journeying to England, to find a place where their children could receive the best possible opportunity to succeed in life.

In 1967 that journey continued, with now four children in tow, to Canada. In 1981, they, as a couple, moved to Wildwood, Florida and finally came back to Canada in 2000.

Cynthia was a loving wife, caring mother, treasured grandmother and steadfast friend. Besides raising her children and shepherding her grandchildren, Cynthia was a competent seamstress, compassionate nurse, and hard-working entrepreneur.

She lived through kidney failure, dialysis treatments three times a week for several years and 20+ years as a kidney transplant recipient. She was a strong independent lady who proudly shared 64 years with Ken and then lived independently on her own for the remaining four years of her life, surrounded and supported by her family.

She was an active member of a women’s group in her building where her calm voice often shared the pride she had for all members of her family. For much of her latter life, she was a respected elder at the Bingo hall where they affectionately referred to her as ‘Mommy’; and she was an enthusiastic Toronto Blue Jays, Raptors and Maple Leafs fan.

She was adept at the use of technology to serve her purposes of connection. She kept actively in touch with her family everywhere in the world via cell phone, WhatsApp and FaceTime: Jamaica, England, Germany, across Canada; and with her Lord, via daily participation in televised Catholic Mass.

There is no doubt that Cynthia’s calm presence, reassuring comfort, and her never-ending non judgemental enthusiasm to learn and share in each of our experiences will be missed by her family and her many many friends.

“Through it all, my eyes are on You and it is well with my Soul”

Cynthia is survived by her brother Eddy/Sonia and sisters Patricia and Annie as well as her four children and their respective spouses Beverley/Dunstan, Marcia/John, Lana/Dwayne and Jim/Jacquie. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren — Cynthia/Pablo, Anthony, Alex, Vanessa/Heiko, Claire, Jordan, Glenn, Geoffrey, Ethan, Spencer and Deanna and her first great-grandchild, Nico (son of Cynthia and Pablo).

Cynthia was cremated on Friday January 15th, 2021. Due to the constraints brought about by Covid-19, a celebration of her life is postponed until such time when we can gather, commemorate, celebrate and enjoy each other’s company in the way she, by example, taught us.

In place of flowers, donations can be made to one of Cynthia’s favourite charities: Covenant House Toronto, Heart & Stroke Foundation or Kidney Foundation of Canada. Links to these charities may be found at the bottom of her memorial page on the website of Ridley funeral home, Etobicoke.

+++ Lord, grant Cynthia Foster eternal peaceful rest and let your perpetual light shine on her +++
