LANSDELL, Karen Ruth - (April 23, 1947 - February 8, 2021) - Ruth Thompson (Registered Ruth McLean) born in Newmarket Hospital as registered. Karen Ruth Lansdell as she was adopted by Reginald and Wynfred Lansdell in 1950.

Waiting for her at her new home in Leaside was her next door neighbour Sheila, they remained lifelong friends. Karen lived the next fifteen years in Leaside.

Due to undiagnosed attention deficiency, Karen had problems completing tasks when both at school and at home. For this she was constantly disciplined. Karen thoroughly enjoyed her life outside of school and home. Karen attended school in Leaside and graduated from the Shaw Business School and went to work as a typist secretary.

Karen moved to Brampton, ON in 1966 with a goal in mind, she achieved that goal on August 25th, 1967 when she first dated Gary Giles. Their love affair lasted over 50 years. They were rarely separated, frequently seen together at lacrosse games and their daily long walks through downtown Brampton. Arm in arm, Karen using Gary’s balance and Gary using Karen’s eyes.

Karen developed neck and mouth cancer in 2015, treatment by Dr. Kim at Princess Margaret Hospital was successful and removed the cancer. Severe collateral damage caused chronic discomfort and suffering until she died from cardiac arrest.

Karen was a beautiful, kind and generous woman. She has left behind many beautiful memories, and one broken heart.

In lieu of flowers, please take a moment to remember her. Arrangements are entrusted with Ward funeral homes.

FAREWELL TO LIFE, FAREWELL TO LOVE, DEATH HAS TAKEN THEM AWAY.
