Clemence DougCLEMENCE, Douglas John - With great sadness, we announce the passing of Douglas John Clemence on June 12, 2021 at the age of 81.

Doug was predeceased by his longtime partner, Ross Rudolph. Ross and his extended family were an important part of Doug’s life.

He was a loving son of the late Mary Ellen & Adna Clifford Clemence. Predeceased by brothers Murray, Duane and Stanley and sisters Verda and Marlene; he is survived by sister Marion (Terry). He was beloved by many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

A special thank you to Bruce and Pauline Rudolph, for their ongoing friendship and support.

Doug came from humble beginnings in Kindersley, SK. He had a long and successful career with the Bank of Nova Scotia, with a stint in the Caribbean followed by many decades in Toronto. Doug loved travelling, particularly to adventurous locations with Ross. They visited an incredible number of locales worldwide and also enjoyed time at the cottage in Muskoka.

Doug was a considerate host and friend, with an uncanny ability to make those around him feel doted upon. This may explain the large number of friends he was blessed with. One of his favourite occasions was the yearly Boxing Day feast with the Rudolph family. He was an avid fan of theatre and symphony, attending regularly for many years. Doug truly was a special person and was adored by those who were lucky enough to call him family or friend.

Sincere thanks to those assisting Doug in his final days, including the staff at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre (Penelope Bradbury, MD), Chartwell Lansing retirement residence, the Shirley and Philip Granovsky Palliative Care unit at Baycrest Centre, and the Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network (Pessi Shields, RN and Elizabeth Amos, MD).

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

In accordance with his wishes, no service will be held. Arrangements are entrusted with Ward funeral homes.
