HOPLEY, John Arthur - After a courageous battle with myasthenia gravis, John passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023, in his 89th year.
Predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Elizabeth (Betty) (née Carley), John will be deeply missed by sons, David (Louis Amato-Gauci) and Donald (Pauline).
Fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Thomas and Krysta; and great-grandchildren, Remy and Jameson. Also mourning John's loss are his siblings, Fred and Joyce; and his many nephews and nieces. Predeceased by his sister, Johanne. John had many titles in his life, from golfer to computer whiz, but his favourite roles were being a husband, a father and "poppa" -
with great pride! He kept his dry sense of humour and his signature "you've got to be kidding me" eye roll right until the end. A special thanks and appreciation to the incredible doctors, kind nurses, care team and staff in the ICU at Scarborough Centenary Hospital, who took such great care of him and made him comfortable in his final days.
