1939 - 2023
Mogens passed away December 12, 2023, at St. Joseph's Health Centre in Toronto after a struggle with cancer.
Mogens will be dearly missed by his sons, Hans and Klaus; and his partner of 20 years, Margaret Grant.
Also by his granddaughters, Anna, Ingrid and Reese; his former partner, Lise, with whom he remained close; his cousin, Gertrud; and many other friends and extended family.
Born in Kolding, Denmark, in 1939, he overcame a difficult childhood to become first a pipe fitter's apprentice and eventually a mechanical engineer.
After immigrating to Canada in 1973 and securing his Canadian credentials, he went on to work on many interesting projects, notably designing key parts of the Canadian embassy in Tokyo and the Royal Canadian Mint in Ottawa.
In recent years, Mogens loved reading, classical music, ballroom dancing, playing bridge, and Sudoku.
He was a deeply practical man, not to mention a terrible cook and an occasionally frightening driver, but above all a fundamentally kind and generous soul who will be in our hearts forever.
