Elpida Tsakamas
April 14, 1927 - November 6, 2024
On Wednesday, November 6th, our family said goodbye to our stubborn, feisty, but always loving matriarch, Elpida Tsakamas (née Koliotassis). Born on April 14, 1927, in the tiny Greek village of Makrohori, Elpida was the eldest child of the late Theodoros and Kalliope Koliotassis.
Elpida loved music and dancing, meeting her husband, Anastasios, at a dance. Together, they immigrated to Canada, where they built a successful family restaurant, The Country Hearth. She was immensely proud of her family’s accomplishments and was devoted to raising her grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and resilience.
She is survived by her daughter Sophia (Papadopoulos), six grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. She is reunited now with those who predeceased her: her husband Anastasios, son George, and her siblings Dimitrius, Christina, Constantina, and Spiros. We will miss Elpida’s delicious pita, but we will miss her presence in our lives even more.
Elpida’s funeral will be a private family event on Tuesday, November 12. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada.
"You left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide, and though we cannot see you, you are always by our side."
Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at McEACHNIE FUNERAL HOME – (Arbor Memorial)
