Rachel Macaylee Turner
December 10, 2001 – October 13, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rachel Macaylee Turner, age 22, on October 13, 2024, due to injuries sustained after being struck by a vehicle. Rachel was born in Toronto on December 10, 2001, to loving parents Susan and Leon. She was the devoted older sister to Nathan and Lauren, and together, they shared many cherished memories at the beach, the zoo, and Lynde Shores. A true animal lover, Rachel adored her cat Jax and dog Piper.

Rachel’s drive and ambition led her to excel academically, attending Balmy Beach, Glen Ames, and Malvern Collegiate. She founded the Malvern Business Council and was active in hockey and lacrosse. Her love for travel took root during a school trip to Japan, and she went on to visit over 20 countries throughout her life.

After graduating from Malvern, Rachel attended Wilfrid Laurier University, majoring in Business Administration and minoring in Political Science. Her university years were filled with participation in clubs and activities, including her work with Laurier’s Mighty Hawks program and as a Commissioner in the Minor League Summer Baseball League, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Following graduation, Rachel embarked on a seven-month trip to Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia with her soulmate, Matt. She returned from this journey happier than ever and full of plans for the future, including pursuing her MBA. Rachel embraced mindfulness through journaling, yoga, and meditation, and lived her life with purpose and positivity, striking up conversations with anyone she met.

Rachel was predeceased by her grandparents Judy and Gordon, and is survived by her grandparents Cecelia and John, her aunts, uncles, cousins, and her soulmate, Matt. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

The Turner family expresses deep gratitude to the team at St. Michael’s Hospital for their kindness and care during Rachel’s final days. In her last selfless act, Rachel saved five families by signing her organ donor card.

A celebration of life will be held at The Balmy Beach Club on Monday, October 21st at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Rachel Turner Legacy Fund to continue her generous spirit by supporting young people in need of crisis counseling and resources.
