GUST, Mary (Mollie) Leslie (nee Gregg) Gust -
July 5, 1933 – July 13, 2024
Mollie Gust was called home to be with Jesus Saturday July 13, 2024 at Bowmanville in her 92nd year.
Born in Bellaghy, Northern Ireland to Willi and Eva Gregg, Mollie was the oldest of seven children. In 1953 the family of nine emigrated to Canada and settled in Toronto. Here Mollie gave her life to Christ at a Billy Graham crusade and in 1960 married Sam Gust. They eventually welcomed two children.
Mollie’s life was driven by her faith and as such she was an active church member throughout her years; teaching Sunday School, managing the church kitchen and participating in a variety of choral groups including many duets with Sam.
In 1969 the couple relocated to Oshawa and finally to Bowmanville in 1973. These moves were where Mollie’s heart for the lost met her true calling in operating homes for individuals living with mental illness. She dearly loved this work and through the years they owned and operated three of these residences where Mollie remained a loving caregiver and passionate advocate.
Mollie enjoyed travelling the world during her retirement and she and Sam spent many happy winters in Lakeland, Florida.
Mollie was preceded in death by her husband Sam (2018), her parents, siblings Yvonne, Essen, Noel, Margaret-Rose, and Leslie. Mollie is survived by her children, Jonathan (Heather) Gust and Leah (Peter) Gust Chatterton, her three beloved grandchildren, Josh, Sam and Eva and her sister Irena (Klaas) Zwiers.
Visitation will be held Wednesday July 31, 2024 12:30pm at Morris Funeral Chapel in Bowmanville. Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 31, 2024 at 1:30pm with Rev. Vic Stonehouse officiating.

COUGHLIN, Christopher Keyes Coughlin - May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields, and, until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
Surrounded by many who loved him, Christopher Keyes Coughlin passed away suddenly on Monday, July 8th, after a short but difficult fight with cancer.
He brought much love and many laughs to the family he was born into and the one he created in the broad friendship circle he built around him; from his early years to later in life with his beloved wife, Erin Elizabeth and their daughter.
He was not one to shy away from having strong, smart women with big hearts around him and aspired to that for his adored daughter, Lauren Rose, of whom he was so proud.
He felt incredibly lucky to work daily with some of his best friends, including Martin, Rob, Nelson, Sean, Toby, K.J., and Gramoz, who were like brothers to him. He held a special place in his heart for his lifelong friend Kevin Davis (Alicia), with whom he shared lots of laughs playing hockey, travelling, and role modelling what true friendship looks like to Kevin and Alicia's sons – his godson Christopher and brothers Jack, Wyatt, and Beau.
He also leaves behind Adam Metzler (Nicole), his best friend from childhood, and his best high school friends, Joe DiDomenicis (Heather), Scot Alessi (Emma), and Carlos Rubio-Reyes (Jessica). He served as Best Man for all of these friends' weddings, which says something about what an exceptional friend he was to so many.
He is predeceased by his parents, Rosemary Keyes, with whom he shared a love of hockey, politics, family, and St. Columban, and his father Robert, with whom he spent many happy times cruising in their various cars listening to music. That love of cars and music carried through his life and was a love he shared with many of his closest friends.
In addition to his wife and daughter; and dear friends; and their families; he leaves behind his aunts, Mary, Helen (late Gerry), Andrea (late Joost), and Doreen (late Tony); his uncle, Peter (Liz).
His many cousins, who saw him as a sibling as well as a friend and with whom he spent many happy days, are heartbroken at their loss. His family are very grateful to the medical professionals at North York General and Sunnybrook who supported Chris through his illness – Drs., Jeffrey Myers and Daphne Grossman; as well as nurse, Cassandra, at the palliative unit at NYGH.
A celebration of life will be held on July 20, 2024, at the Tara Inn, 2365 Kingston Rd., Scarborough.
In order to remember Chris's legacy, rather than donations or flowers, please find someone who needs help in your life, and give this freely without any expectation of something in return.
