Brian Earl Underwood

25-Jun-1958 - 9-Dec-2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing from our world of Brian Earl Underwood at the age of 66, on December 9th, 2024, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. A devoted husband, proud father, doting grandfather, caring brother, and cherished son, he will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.

Born in 1958 in Ottawa, Ontario, to Pearl and Earl Underwood, Brian grew up in Sudbury, Ontario, and attended the University of Toronto. In 1984, he married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Underwood, with whom he raised three sons. He had a long career as an IT manager that took his family all around the world, living in Soroako, Indonesia, and later Brisbane, Australia. In 2009, he retired with his wife to Port Hope, Ontario, where he became known for being an avid golfer, an event organizer, and a friend to many at the Port Hope Golf and Country Club; a bass player for his local band; and as the neighborhood IT support guy.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sharon Underwood; his mother, Pearl MacDormand; his three sons, Ian (partner Deanna), Kirk, and Erik (wife Itsumi); his grandchildren, Myles and Noxy; his brother Dennis Underwood (wife Norine), along with his niece Naiya and nephew Mason; his brother Doug Underwood (wife Sonia), nieces Tricia, Megan, and Shannon; and sister Janice Telfer, nephew Bauer. Preceding him in death were his father, Earl Underwood, and stepfather, Robert MacDormand.

A celebration of Brian’s life will take place on Thursday, December 19th, from 1 to 4 PM, at the McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road, Pickering Village, Ajax, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, donations to Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre in Cobourg, Ontario, would be greatly appreciated.
