Peter Veltman

January 1, 1937 – November 26, 2024

Peter Veltman went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at a hospice in Huntsville, Ontario. Surrounded by the love and care of his family, Peter passed away peacefully, leaving a legacy of faith, love, and generosity.

Peter was a devoted husband to his wife of 65 years, Coby Veltman, and a loving father to Gerald (Linda), Dave (Chrissy), Jim (Teresa), John (Trish), and Diane (Mike). He was a cherished Grandpa to Peter (Katie), Daryl (Lindsey), Adrienne (Alex), Kelsey, Adam, Lauren, Alexa, Kristopher, Amber, Britney, and Sara, and an adoring Opa to his great-grandchildren Gerald, Jaxon, Henley, Maggie, Bodhi, Teagan, and Joey.

Born on January 1, 1937, in Harlingen, The Netherlands, Peter immigrated to Canada in 1953 at the age of 16. Settling in Brampton, Ontario, with his family, Peter displayed a strong work ethic in various roles, including truck driver, janitorial business owner, and real estate agent. After retiring, Peter and Coby managed a bed and breakfast in Huntsville, sharing their warm Dutch hospitality with guests from around the world.

Peter’s passions included watching his family’s sports games, playing shuffleboard at Faith Baptist Church, and enjoying billiards with friends at the community centre. A dedicated member of his church, Peter loved singing hymns at services, in a choir, and at home. His faith and unconditional love were evident to all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 169 West Road, Huntsville, Ontario.
