JONES, Verna (nee LAWSON) - Passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Barnswallow Place, Elmira, at the age of 100 years.
Beloved wife of the late Robert Jones (1993).
Dear mother of Ruth and David Johnson, Timothy Jones, and Carolyn Mancuso.
Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Bethany (Ben Schwarz), Hannah Johnson, Danielle Johnson (Meghan McCallum), Nathaniel Johnson; Harrison Mancuso, Sterling Mancuso; and by her great-granddaughter, Marie Schwarz.
Sister of Louise (Glen) Price and sister-in-law of Patricia Lawson and Ena Jones.
Verna will be missed by her many nieces, nephews and their families, and by her friends and neighbours.
Predeceased by her parents, Sterling and Beatrice (Cole) Lawson; by her siblings, Gerald (Claribel) Lawson, Malcolm Lawson, Jean (Ronald) Kaley, and David Lawson.
Verna was a missionary and medical nurse in India for almost a decade, and a longtime member of Oakwood Baptist Church and Richview Baptist Church in Toronto.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023, from 4-5 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira, with the Funeral Service in the funeral home chapel at 5 p.m., followed by a Reception. Interment will take place on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Glendale Memorial Cemetery, Etobicoke.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to New Brunswick Bible Institute would be appreciated and may be made though the funeral home.
