VESEY, Phyllis Vesey  - Passed away peacefully surrounded throughout her final days continuously surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday June 9, 2024, at the age of 96 years.

Wife of the late James “Jim” Vesey. Loved and will be deeply missed by her children William Vesey (Anne Price), Janet Brunott (Ed Brunott) and MaryLynn Vesey (Rick Griesi) and her three grandchildren Ryan Brunott, Lian Griesi and James Griesi.

Phyllis was born in Utica Ontario, where the past legacy of her family settled in 1851 after leaving Scotland. After losing the farm in Utica during the depression she spent her early youth and all her teen years in Uxbridge.

Phyllis bravely left Uxbridge at 18 to pursue her passion for fashion design and graduated from the Letchford Studio of Fashion Careers, in Toronto where her expertise of dressmaking, tailoring, millinery and design work were perfected and continued until she was well into her 80’s.

She married fellow Uxbridge boy Jim Vesey, her high school sweetheart in 1957 and built a life in the new area of the north end of Toronto called “Willowdale” to return to her hometown at 80 to spend the last part of her independent life in the area where it began.

But all along the way she spent much treasured family time on her beautiful Lake Kennisis in Haliburton. Phyllis loved all things beautiful, and she described herself, as a “self taught eclectic collector of everything rare and beautiful” where she spent a lifetime meeting unique and wonderful people that equally shared or because of her began to share the passion for antique collecting of treasures, ensuring that she passed this passion down to her children and grandchildren.

Phyllis will be remembered for her true zest for life, travel, and her natural ability to make her children and grandchildren feel like she was their biggest fan.

But most of all she will be remembered for her wonderful spirit, quirky sense of humour where her infectious laughter made any dull day brighter, she was the real treasure… Private family services
