David Peter Vieira

29-Apr-1951 - 25-Mar-2025

In Loving Memory of David Peter Vieira (1951 - 2025)

It is with heavy hearts we mourn the passing of David Peter Vieira. David left us peacefully on March 25th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. David’s journey in life was one of passion, dedication, deep love for his family, friends, and the soccer community. David loved music and was an original member of the famous Young Ones of Guyana band.

Born in Georgetown, Guyana, David was one of Evarest and Patricia Vieira’s eleven children. It was in Guyana where he met Wendy, the love of his life. They were married and settled on Versailles Estate before immigrating to Canada in 1975, where they started a new chapter in life. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories for nearly 50 years.

David's work ethic was unparalleled. He proudly worked on the family sugar estate in Guyana and later spent many fulfilling years at Yamaha Motor Canada from where he retired with a deep sense of accomplishment. However, his true passion lay in the world of soccer, Grass track racing, music, and spending time in the Florida sunshine. He was a devoted coach and player and especially enjoyed pick-up games with his numerous cousins and brothers in his younger days. David was not only a key figure in his local soccer and referee communities but also a mentor to countless young athletes. He volunteered and shared his knowledge of the game, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of many.

David’s family was the heart of his world. He is survived by his 9 siblings, his beloved wife Wendy, his children Alexis and Nicholas/Kate, and his four adored grandchildren: Abbey, Bianca, David, and Lilee. David took great pride in being a hands-on father and grandfather, always finding joy volunteering with his kids and spending time with his family.

David’s warmth, sense of humor, and infectious energy made him a beloved figure to all who knew him. He had a unique way of making everyone feel welcome and valued, no matter their background or circumstance. His kindness and generosity touched the lives of many, and his loyalty to his loved ones was unwavering. He was a cherished father figure to many.

Though David has left us too soon, his legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.
