GRANT, Violet Margery (nee COLES) - Violet Grant would hate this obituary, as she always avoided the spotlight.
But sadly, she is no longer here to protest, and we are free to shine a light on a life well lived.
She 'retired' at age 65, was declared indispensable, brought back and continued to make her way downtown, impeccably dressed and coiffed, well into her 80s (via public transit as she never learned to drive).
Her dedication to the CBC was legendary, but it was dwarfed by her dedication and love for her family.
Vi was preceded in death by her husband Jim Grant, her siblings Phyllis Lord and Jim Coles, and her brother-in-law Bob Lord. "Aunt Vi" is survived by, and cherished by, her sister-in-law Beverley Coles; her nieces and nephews David Coles (Deb), Randy Coles (Heather), Janice Coles, Martin Beard-Coles (Jay), Liza Judd (Mark), and Rob Lord; grandnieces and grand- nephews Jen Coles, Mike Coles (Ashley Braun), Ben Coles, Lauryn Jackson, Alex Judd, Colin Judd, Eli Shahar, and Rosie Shahar; and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews Nick Coles, Ava Braun, Levi Braun, Jonah Coles, Jacob Coles, Colton Jackson, and Brody Jackson; and a host of friends - especially Susan, Bob, and Heather Wakutz, as evidenced by their amazing love and support in her final days.
The family hopes that COVID restrictions will allow for an interment ceremony in late spring or early summer.
