August 23, 1926 – October 27, 2024

Long-time Culross resident Irvin George Voisin of Formosa passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Brucelea Haven, Walkerton, in his 99th year.

Irvin is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Dorothy C. (nee Walter), and his children: Jim (Ann) of Kitchener, Dave (Marie) of Holyrood, Rob (Sylvia) of Teeswater, Len (Launa) of Trout Creek, Mary Lynn Lemont (Doug McDonald) of Hanover, and Liana (Jamie) Brown of Lake Rosalind. Cherished grandpa to his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will also be fondly remembered by his sisters-in-law Agnes Voisin, Eileen Voisin, and Dorothy Walter, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Born on August 23, 1926, Irvin was the sixth of nine children to Frank and Nora (nee Beninger) Voisin. Growing up on a farm, he developed a love for animals and a strong work ethic. He attended Immaculate Conception School in Formosa, known for his talents in math and spelling. Leaving school after Grade 7, he embarked on a lifetime of hard work and dedication, including roles at the Formosa sawmill and later as the owner of a construction business.

Irvin met his beloved Dorothy at a dance in Cargill in 1947, beginning a love story that lasted 73 years. They raised six children in a lively and love-filled home, instilling values of faith, family, and hard work.

Known for his sense of humor, love of nature, and numerous hobbies—including hunting, recycling, and caring for animals—Irv’s personality brightened the lives of everyone he encountered. He retired at 54 due to a back injury, but continued to keep busy, embracing new hobbies, and spending cherished time with his family.

Friends and relatives are invited to visitation on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cameron’s in Walkerton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Formosa, with Fr. Emmanuel Azike officiating. A reception at the Knights of Columbus, Walkerton, will follow. Interment will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Formosa.
