Margaret Wesley (née Foley)

1936 - 2024

In her 88th year, Margaret Wesley passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. Margaret was predeceased by her beloved husband of 48 years, Ken Wesley (2015). She leaves behind her loving daughters Nancy and Barbara (Matt Storey), and her cherished grandchildren Phaelan & Seamus George and Liam & Oliver Storey.

Margaret grew up in Toronto’s Main & Danforth area, alongside her siblings Dennis, Marie, and Bernard (Bud). She treasured her childhood memories of family gatherings, summers with her grandparents, and reunions with relatives in Peterborough. After graduating from Notre Dame High School in 1954, Margaret began a career with Prudential Insurance, later spending two years working and traveling in Europe with her sister-in-law and best friend, Barbara Foley.

Margaret married Ken in 1967, and they built a life filled with love, community involvement, and shared adventures. The couple settled in West Hill, Scarborough, where they cultivated beautiful gardens, took up ballroom dancing, and spent summers at their cottage on Morrison Lake. Margaret was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League (CWL), a Girl Guide leader, and a volunteer with the Heart & Stroke Foundation. She returned to work as a secretary for Phillips Electronics for over 15 years and later worked in insurance, bringing her career full circle.

In retirement, Margaret became a dedicated member of St. Leo the Great Parish in Brooklin, finding joy and friendship among the CWL ladies. Her faith and family were her guiding pillars in life, and she adored her grandsons, often sharing stories about their accomplishments and activities. Margaret’s love for her family and devotion to her faith provided her immense comfort and strength throughout her life and in her final days.

Her daughters, Nancy and Barbara, extend their heartfelt thanks to Margaret’s “good friends” and “good neighbours,” particularly the ladies of the CWL and those who supported Margaret in her later years. Special thanks to Jeananne, Diana, and Venise for their care and kindness.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Angel Project at St. Leo the Great Parish or to Lakeridge Health Oshawa.
