Robert (Bob) Sinclair Wilson
May 1, 1946 - January 4, 2025
Surrounded by his loved ones, Robert (Bob) Sinclair Wilson, 78, of Markham, Ontario, passed away peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre on January 4, 2025, after a brave battle with melanoma.
Born May 1, 1946, in Toronto, Bob was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Helen Wilson, his brother Tom (Margaret) Wilson, and beloved grandson, Mitchell Wilson. He is survived by his wife, Pamela, his two children, Craig (Tiffany) and Cheryl (Kevin). Bob will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Emma, Kaylen, and Evelynn and his four nephews, Marc, Ian, Ash, and Evan. Bob was also a special “Dad” to Danielle and Scott Sheridan and “Epa” to Mathieu, Zachary, and Cassandra. He will be missed by all of his extended family and many friends, especially those from the East York Barbershoppers.
Bob began his working life following his father and uncle into their industrial machine knife business, Wilson Grinding Ltd. on Blake Street in Toronto. Later joined by his son Craig, he continued to work towards creating success in the family business, eventually renaming it Wilson Machine Knife Ltd. to reflect the evolving modernity of the industry.
Bob loved the tranquillity of nature and spent his leisure time at his cottage on Georgian Bay, Clearwater Beach. His parents first established this tradition in the 1940s and later built the current cottage in 1970. Bob was a true family man and enjoyed spending summers together at the cottage where cherished memories were made.
Bob was passionate about music and understood the connection between singing and the heart. His enthusiasm for all things Barbershop was discovered in 1978 when he found his home in the East York Barbershoppers Chorus. He was a valued member of the organization as a beloved Tenor in the chorus as well as for the leadership roles he adopted during his tenure. It is here he made many of his lifelong friendships and experienced singing all around the globe.
To honour Bob's life and legacy, a celebration of life will occur in the spring, with details to be shared closer to the event.
To honour Bob’s memory, the family requests that donations be made to Harmonize for Speech, an organization dear to his heart.
Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at AFTERCARE CREMATION & BURIAL SERVICE LIMITED.
