WILTON, Ann Catherine Wilton - of Toronto, passed away on June 12, 2024, from complications due to ALS, a disease she had faced with bravery and equanimity.
Ann was born to Glen and Marjorie Wilton on May 24, 1952 in Toronto.
She attended Trinity College at the University of Toronto, where she studied English and met her husband, Brian, when they were cast as a couple in a play.
Brian and Ann were married in 1974 and continued their studies at Oxford, Dalhousie and for Ann at the University of Ottawa, where she graduated with a law degree while Brian clerked at the Supreme Court.
Their marriage was a truly harmonious union of love, shared interests and complimentary temperaments.
Ann practiced family law as a research lawyer at MacDonald & Partners LLP, writing numerous books in the area. She contributed significantly as a volunteer at the University of Toronto and received an Arbor Award earlier this year. Ann was extremely social and interested in people.
This extended to literature, politics and history, as well as her enjoyment in family life. She was predeceased by Brian (1950-2007) and afterwards found great happiness with her second husband, Paul Northgrave, who survives her.
She is also survived by her sister, Carol; her children, Andrew (Joanne), Eric (Tracy), Colin (Rebecca) and Catherine; as well as her six grandchildren (Kinley, Ben, Paige, Elliott, Wells, and Hayes); and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.
A Visitation will be held at Humphrey Funeral Home at 1403 Bayview Avenue in Toronto on June 18, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and the Funeral will be at Rosedale United Church on June 19, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon with a Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ann's memory to the ALS Society of Canada (als.ca) or the Brian Morgan Scholarship in Law at Trinity College, University of Toronto (https://www.trinity.utoronto.ca/connect/giving/).
