Douglas Edward Witmer

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Douglas Edward Witmer, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the age of 89.
Predeceased by his beloved wife of 61 years, Patricia, Doug was a loving father to Mary-Beth Zeggil (Paul), Carolyn Witmer, Christine Zeggil (Brian), and Peter Witmer. Cherished Pop to Stephen (Kelsi Baker), Samual (Menahil), Maxwell, and great-grandson Rylan. He is survived by his sisters Doris Duncan, Mildred Ferguson (Bill), Karen Farrow (Bob), and many friends and relatives.
Doug was predeceased by his parents Elmina and Edward Witmer, in-laws Mary and Clifford Snyder, sister Betty Brodrecht, and brothers-in-law Ron Brodrecht and Don Duncan.
Born and raised in Hespeler, Doug owned and operated a successful Plumbing, Heating, and Mechanical Contracting business in the Cambridge and Kitchener-Waterloo area for over 60 years. He was an active member of the Mechanical Contractors and Home Builders Associations and contributed to the Kinsman and Rotary Clubs of Cambridge. A lifelong Toronto Maple Leafs fan, Doug was an avid golfer, curler, and a former Junior B hockey player for the Hespeler Shamrocks. His happiest moments were spent with family, enjoying meals, wine, card games, and shared laughter.
Friends will be received at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas Street N., Cambridge, on Friday, December 13, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A service will follow at 1:00 p.m., with a reception at 1:45 p.m. at Corbett Funeral Home.
