John Wray

December 15, 1933 - February 9, 2025

John Wray, age 91, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 9, 2025. He was born in Toronto on December 15, 1933, to John and Ellen Wray and grew up alongside his three older sisters and younger brother.

John was the loving husband of his dear wife, Lynda, and was predeceased by his first wife, Jean (1988). He was a beloved father to Patricia (Ian), Paul, Kenneth (Karen), and Jonathan (Linda). A devoted grandfather and great-grandfather, John cherished his 25 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a dear brother to Joseph and was predeceased by his sisters Isobel, Eileen, and Kay.

John deeply valued his family, always eager to hear their stories and share in their joys. He was passionate about sports and encouraged his family to follow in his footsteps. Professionally, John was highly respected in his career as a negotiator for S. McCord Ready Mixed Company and later for Lafarge Canada. Known for his integrity, it was often said, “If John Wray gave you his word, you could take it to the bank.”

John enjoyed reading, walking, gardening, and was an enthusiastic member of his church choir. His faith in the Lord Jesus Christ was central to his life—he read his Bible daily, prayed for many, and shared the "Good News" at every opportunity.

John was a kind and generous friend who loved to help others. One of the organizations he proudly supported was The Faith Mission, following in his mother’s footsteps. He was especially delighted to know that some of his great-grandchildren attended their camps.
