Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on December 24th, 2024 at Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry. Christine courageously fought a 4year long battle with Cancer.
Christine leaves behind her beloved husband of 56 years, Daniel. Dear mother of Stephen (Kyra) and the late Michelle Christine Simpson (Robert). Loved grandmother of Meagan Simpson and Rachel Simpson. Dear sister of John Fuke (Oksana) and the late Joanna Olga Fuke. Daughter of Wasyl Fuke and the late Sophia. Lovingly remembered by her cousins Victor Fuke (Raissa), Vera Wilson (Scott), Mary Bilo, Roman Bilo, Marika Grytskov (Viktor), Anna Vanherwijhen (Marc) and by her nieces and nephews Eileen Vasey Kelly (Doug), Taissa Fuke and Tim Fuke. Predeceased by her aunts Maria Szlachtianczyn (John) and Katherin Bilo (Steve). Christine will be sadly missed by all of her family and many friends.
Christine retired after many years of service from Oshawa Clinic, where she worked as a Medical Secretary for Dr. Fang. She was also a Ukrainian Nursery School Teacher at Sadochuk. In her retirement, Christine enjoyed vacationing in Florida, Gardening and pursuing her passion for Antiques with Daniel by her side collecting and selling in many different areas. She was a proud parishioner of St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic Church where she participated in the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League Branch #2 as Past President and Member. She was also a Member of Dnipro Hall Youth Association CYM, where she spent many early years.
The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Ort Freedman and the Staff at Lakeridge Cancer Centre for all of their compassion and support for Christine and her family throughout her battle and treatments.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday January 4th, 2025 10am at St. George the Great Martyr Ukrainian Catholic Church, 42 Lviv Blvd, Oshawa.
Interment to follow at St. Wolodymyr & St. Olha Cemetery.
Please join with the family for Visitation on Friday January 3rd, 2025 from 6pm to 8pm at Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa. Panachyda will be held Friday at 7pm.
Memorial donations to St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic Church or Lakeridge Health Foundation Cancer Centre would be greatly appreciated by the family.
