Margaret Mary Zettler

1934 – November 24, 2024

Margaret Mary Zettler of Walkerton passed away suddenly at her home on Sunday, November 24, 2024, in her 90th year. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community.

Beloved sister of Joe Zettler of Walkerton, Marian Smith of Surrey, BC, Bob (Marilyn) Zettler of London, and Jane Lacey of Chepstow. Margaret was a cherished aunt to 13 nieces and nephews: Steve, Doug, Joe, Julie, Jeff, Jennifer, Eileen, Michelle, Jamie, Stephanie, Lynn, Scott, Ashley, and 21 great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Agnes (née Siegel) Zettler, brother Raymond Zettler, and several in-laws and her nephew Jason Zettler.

Margaret will be remembered for her love of music, piano playing, and teaching, as well as her mastery of card games, especially SOLO. Born and raised on the family farm in Brant Township, Margaret graduated from SHHS in Walkerton and began her career at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kitchener. She later worked for Bell Telephone and dedicated her later years to teaching piano and serving as the organist at St. Louis Church in Waterloo. In 2012, she returned to Walkerton, where she enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and spending time with loved ones.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, November 28, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cameron’s in Walkerton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 29, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Walkerton, officiated by Father Leszek Szczygiel. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Walkerton, with a reception afterward.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Walkerton and District Hospital Foundation or the Saugeen Hospice would be appreciated by the family. Donations and condolences may be made online at Cameron Funeral Homes.
