SHIMADA, Barbara Akiko - December 10, 1928 - October 17, 2021
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Akiko Shimada, at Scarborough, Ontario, on October 17, 2021.
A wonderful wife, loving mother and devoted grandmother.
She is cherished by her sons, Douglas (Elaine) and Jeffrey, and her grandchildren Kiani, Devan, Maggie and Jillian. She will have wonderful stories told about her to her great-grandson Ezra.
A heartfelt thank you to the team at Yee Hong Scarborough Finch for their care and support during Mom's residency, as well as the energy and programming provided by Momiji Healthcare.
The opportunities to sing were the highlight of her day. In lieu of flowers or koden, donations directed to Yee Hong Foundation, Momiji Healthcare, or the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre in Barbara's name are greatly appreciated.
Arrangements with the Highland Funeral Home, Scarborough Chapel
A memorial and celebration of life will be held once the warmer weather returns.
