BARR, Donald Alvin Barr - Meds University of Toronto 1953 Passed away peacefully, at Hospice Georgian Triangle – Campbell House, Tuesday, August 13, 2024, in his 95th year.

Don met Elizabeth in Medical school at University of Toronto, and they were married 50 years before she passed.

Don embraced family: children, Janice (predeceased), Ian and Annabelle, Joan, Carol, Larry and Kathlene, Laura and Jeff; grandchildren, Beth and Clayton, James, Mary, Rhiannon and Peter, Jason, Clare, Tighe; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Sammy; nieces/nephews, Heather, James, Darcy, Shep; younger brother, George (predeceased) and wife, Penny.

Don served in the Navy part time and rose to the rank of Surgeon Lieutenant, moved from private medical practice to Director of the Ryerson Medical clinic where he wore many hats, including team doctor, Chairman of Health Science, Dean of Community Services, and on the Board of Governors, as well as many advisory committees over his 24+ year career.

Post retirement, he continued to serve underserviced areas as fill in doctor.

His love of Church (St. George's and Trinity), stamps, crosswords and bridge, filled his available time when not travelling the world.

As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Doctors Donald and Elizabeth Barr Bursary at Ryerson University (now TMU) through the tribute page.
