Tommy "Tom" Henry Blommaert
1956 - 2024

Tommy "Tom" Henry Blommaert, a resident of Dresden, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Windsor Regional Hospital at the age of 68. Born in Chatham, he was the son of the late Louis and Irma (Van Damme) Blommaert. Tom is survived by his daughters, Bailee Sacerty (Garrett) and Nicole Coles (Brandon), and their mother, Kathleen Betts (Kipp). He was a proud grandfather to Quinn, Callie, Alaina, and Alivia. He is fondly remembered by his dear friend Cathy Dewagner, as well as his sisters-in-law, Joanne Blommaert and Carol (Blommaert) Simpson. Tom will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his brothers, Richard, Willy, and Henny, and sisters, Emmy Ide (Jerome), Nellie Hinks, and Ann Blommaert, along with his niece, Brenda Ide Schaffer, Tom leaves behind a legacy of love for his family, especially his granddaughters. He enjoyed playing cards, particularly euchre and poker, and loved hosting poker nights with his friends. Tom also took pride in keeping his yard immaculate and enjoyed spending time with Cathy, going for drives, and watching movies.

He worked for Eatons in Wallaceburg for 28 years, followed by stints at Martinrea, Penske, Bob’s Produce, and Dresden Meat Packers. Tom was a long-time member of the Dresden Legion and served as Bar Steward until his retirement. His quick wit and caring nature will be remembered by all who knew him, as will his love for hockey, Pepsi, and lemon pie.

Cremation has taken place, with interment to follow at a later date in Dresden Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 113 on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 1-4 p.m. Donations in memory of Tom may be made to Lupus Canada or the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 113, Dresden.
