Ruth Ten Brinke
October 10, 1957 – November 24, 2024
It is with the heaviest of hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of Ruth Ten Brinke. She passed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital with her family by her side on Sunday, November 24, 2024, after a short but hard-fought battle. Ruth was 67 years old.
Ruth was the beloved wife of 47 years to her soulmate, Jack, and a cherished mother to Heidi LaBerge (Dan) and Kylie Turcotte (Robbie). She was a proud and loving Nanny to Maisie, Jackson, Molly, Hannah, and Elise, teaching them values of kindness, fun, and family traditions. Her love for her family was boundless, and her legacy will live on through her children and grandchildren.
Ruth is predeceased by her parents, Euena Grahl Madic and Kenneth Grahl. She is survived by her siblings Joan Guitard (Don), Deborah Blahey (late Nicholas), Vera Askew (Mike), Keith Grahl (Joan), and Bruce Grahl (Sylvie), as well as her in-laws Maria and the late Jochem Ten Brinke. Ruth was a dear sister-in-law, aunt, and cherished friend to many.
Ruth worked diligently throughout her career at Rio Algom in Elliot Lake, Prentiss & Carlisle Forest Management in Sault Ste. Marie, and as the Police Services Board Secretary for Sault Ste. Marie. Her dedication and hard work were matched only by her love of family, friends, and life’s simple joys.
Family and friends are invited to a funeral service at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor John Faulkner officiating. A private family interment at Sylvan Valley Cemetery will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Sault Ste. Marie in Ruth’s memory. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the ICU doctors and nurses at the Sault Area Hospital for their compassion and care during Ruth’s final days.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
