Jean (Janina) Chasiak (née Krasowska)
December 8, 1921 - January 23, 2025
In Loving Memory Of Jean Chasiak
Our dear Jean Chasiak passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the age of 103. Jean was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, godmother, aunt, and friend.
Born in Poland on December 8, 1921, Jean was the second youngest of seven children born to the late Karolina and Michael Krasowska. At the age of 18, she was enlisted to work in a factory in Germany during WWII. After the war, in 1948, she reunited with her husband Walter (predeceased in 1975) in Canada, where they built a home and a loving family.
She was a devoted mother to Mary (Bill) and the late Donna (2019) (Ken), a cherished grandmother to Teresa (Mahdy), Carol (Keron), Jackie (Ron), and Steven (Jessine), and a proud great-grandmother to Sheridan, Alex, Alyssa, Rylee, Austin, Hannah, Olivia, and Leah. Jean will always be remembered by her many nieces, especially Christine and Susan, nephews, cousins, and friends in Canada, Poland, and the USA.
A devout Catholic, Jean was a longtime member of Holy Family Parish in Whitby and the Catholic Women’s League. Her faith was a source of strength, and her family finds comfort knowing she is at peace in the hands of the Lord.
For all who knew Jean, she will be remembered for her incredible Polish cooking—her cabbage rolls, perogies, and meat sticks were unmatched. She loved sewing, gardening, and selflessly helping others. Family was always her priority, and her warmth and kindness will never be forgotten.
Even as she faced the challenges of dementia, Jean joyfully celebrated her 103rd birthday, Christmas, and New Year’s with a smile on her face and a champagne glass in her hand.
