Ronald "Ronnie" St. Denis

1935 - 2024

With broken hearts, we announce the passing of Ronnie on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, in Sault Ste. Marie, at the age of 89 years.

Devoted husband of Fern for 68 years. Beloved father of Kim St. Denis-Hykel (Peter). Cherished Papa of Justin Hykel (Tianna) and Kaitlin Hykel (Nathan) and adoring Great-Papa of Sydney. Predeceased by his parents Alexander and Elsie St. Denis. Survived by his brother-in-law Brian Badelt (Joanne), and sisters-in-law Lynne Shand (Dave) and Wendy Gibson (Ron).

Fondly remembered by nieces and nephews Brad, Amanda, Brian Jr., Randi, Ryan, Riley, and Darcie. Predeceased by his sisters Leona Behrens (Thomas), Lauretta Steves (Doug), Joyce Diboll (Llyod), Barbara Lajoie (Roland), and survived by his sister Sandra Dore (Vic), along with numerous nieces and nephews in the St. Denis family.

Ronnie was a lover of animals, with a special passion for horses, which began in his teenage years. Alongside Fern and Kim, he built the family horse farm, S.D. Acres, sharing his love of equestrian pursuits with the community. He balanced this passion with a 42-year career at Algoma Steel, working in the Open Hearth and as a BOSP Crane Operator. After retirement, he continued to care for the farm, spending mornings on his tractor followed by coffee shop visits.

Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Monday, November 25, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Helen Smith officiating. Interment at West Korah Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to ARCH would be greatly appreciated. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to ARCH for their kindness and compassion, and a special thank you to Brenda Paat from the Sault Area Hospital for her dedicated care and support.

Ronnie leaves behind a legacy of practical knowledge, hard work, and dedication that will be cherished by all who knew him.
