Elderly man with glasses and a slight smileFRASER, Douglas Duncan Fraser  -   aged 85, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2024. He was a beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a warm and loving man who, even in his final days, never lost his sense of humour. He left a lasting and positive impression on everyone who knew him and will be dearly missed.

Doug is survived by his loving wife Patricia Fraser (nee Verral) of almost 60 years, his children Heather Kaine (Andy Kenins) and Cameron Fraser (Tricha Fraser) and his brother George Fraser (Betty Fraser). He was the proud grandfather of Emily and Jack Kaine and Myles and Tiffany Fraser who brought him immense joy.

A dog lover for most of his life, Julia and Ella will miss their human papa.

Doug was an avid golfer and up until the last couple of years frequented the courses of Haliburton County with his hat, sunscreen and bug spray. Vacations were spent playing golf in South Carolina and Florida. For years he organized the Fletcher Valley Golf Tournament, a most anticipated community event. He always enjoyed the challenge and camaraderie he found on the greens.

A Chartered Accountant by profession, Doug’s meticulous nature and commitment to excellence made him a respected figure in his community.

For years he was the Treasurer of St. Peter’s Church in Algonquin Highlands where he could be found tallying up the proceeds from various church events including the most popular Thanksgiving dinner and summer pancake breakfasts.

Doug’s life was filled with love and laughter.

A celebration of his life will take place on August 31, 2024 at 11:30am at St. Peter’s Church, 1213 St. Peters Road, Algonquin Highlands.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Ontario in Doug’s memory.
