It is with unimaginable sadness that we mourn the passing of Olga Bihun of Oshawa, ON on Sunday September 1, 2024 at the age of 95.

She was predeceased by her husband Stanley in 1989.

Loving mother of Irene (Gregory Carriere) and Kathy (Brian O’Donnell). Cherished Baba of Kirsten Carriere. Her granddaughter Kirsten held a very special place in her Baba’s heart.

Predeceased by her sisters Maria Fedorczenko and Lydia Korenycky.

Olga had a difficult life but she lived it with a fierce determination in order to provide a better life for her children. She was born in Ukraine during the Famine, taken away from her family in WWII to Germany, lived in Belgium after the war, lived 6 years in Australia and then finally arrived in Canada where she remained a proud Canadian citizen for 65 years.

Tragically, as the result of a car accident, Olga was taken from her loving, proud and cherished family. Thank you to the firefighters, paramedics and hospital staff who tried tirelessly to revive her and also for their care and compassion.

A private service will be held at the family’s request.

It is with aching hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Melanie Pereira Tucker, a cherished daughter, wife, sister, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, niece, cousin and friend. Known for her creative, kind, forgiving, humorous and fun-loving nature, Melanie was called to heaven on Friday August 30th, 2024.

Born on April 21st 1971, Melanie lived a life filled with tremendous passion for Guiding, music, and visual arts. She was a creative and compassionate educator at Little Ark Daycare for many years. She devoted much of her life to raising her children, and most recently, her beloved grandchildren Grayson and Braxton.

She is survived by her loving husband Michael Tucker, her sons Jacob (Gina) and Dalton, her parents, Janis & Michael Pereira, her sisters Michelle (Matt), Susanne (James), Nicole (Jay) and Danielle (Will), her nieces and nephews; Stephanie (Ryan), Tristan (Jordan), Eric, Alex, Brandon, Ian, Aidan, Leah, Ethan, Owen, Emma and Adam.

She was greeted with loving embrace by her brother John and other family members that went before her.
Family and friends may call at Armstrong Funeral Home (124 King St. E., Oshawa) on Thursday September 5th, 2024 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm.

A Catholic service to follow at Armstrong Funeral Home on Friday September 6th, 2024 at 11:00 am

We will be gathering at Club Loreley, 389 Dean Ave. Oshawa immediately after the service to honour and remember Melanie. We hope you will attend.

Passed away peacefully on August 30, 2024 at Abbeylawn Manor, Pickering, at the age of 82.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Lil. Cherished father of the late Michael, Lee (George), and Shelly (Brian). Devoted grandfather of Hope (Jamie), Kayla (Matt), Taylor, Sydney, and Josh. Great-grandfather of Jaxon, Max, Lincoln, and Marlee. Brother-in-law, best friend and partner in crime Eric Harney and sister-in-law, the late Margaret Harney. Jerry will be remembered fondly by his many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Beloved wife of Stanley for 72 years.

Dear mother of Victor (Linda) and Ramona Johnson (the late Nelson).

Beloved grandmother of Jennifer (Brian), Gregory (Lauren), Kristopher (Melissa), Nicole (RJ) and Andrew.

Great Grandmother of Aislin, Nolan, Sierra, Braydon, Everett, Riley, Isaac &Ilyse.

Predeceased by many of her family and friends.

Vicky will be lovingly remembered by many extended family members.

Her Grandson Kris wrote this lovely tribute…It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of our beloved grandmother’s passing. While I won her as a Grandma whin I was 7, I felt her impression on my life instantly and ever since. She lived a full, incredible, hard and rewarding 98 years, filled with love, wisdom and unforgettable memories. The ultimate blueprint of a successful immigrant story, having left everything behind during the war to establish new roots in Canada. Her spirit was strong and her influence reigned over all of us as the true Matriarch she was. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her. Rest in Peace Grandma

Janina Derlatka
Peacefully passed away at her home, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, August 29, 2024, in her 102nd year.

Beloved wife of the late Stefan. Loving mother of Edward (Wanda), Richard (Jayne), and Diana (Brian).

Cherished Babcia of James (Crystal), Michael (Danielle), Jaclyn, Jessica (Nick), Stephen (Rinchen), and Elizabeth (Garrett) and Great-Babcia of Ellie.

Janina spent her life filled with love, laughter, and an unyielding passion for her family and gardening. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild were the light of her life. Among her many gardening accomplishments, her beautiful rose bushes, represented her loving and tender care for her gardens.

Janina was also a dedicated longtime parishioner of St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from 6-8 p.m. with Prayers at 7 p.m. at Armstrong Funeral Home (124 King St. E., Oshawa). A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at 12 p.m. at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.

It is with profound sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of Len on Monday, August 26th at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Dear husband of Carol (nee Nixon) for 50 years. Loving and supportive Dad to Matt (Jaimee Lea) and Chris (J.J.). Proud grandfather of Kershaw and C.J., who were grandpa’s pride and joy. Lovingly remembered by Jagger, Danika, and Stevie Lea. Special “Skunkle” to Virginia, Paul, and Tyler Breedon and Victoria Berwick.

Skip will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by the Nixon, McGill, Jenkins and Alder families and dear friends. And of course that includes his wonderful golf buddies, who were such an important part of his life, with a very special thank you to Ron and Roger for always being there for their friend.

Skip was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Clarice (aka Bill) Kemlo and his favourite sister Patricia Meek.
Our family is grateful to his dedicated home nurse Goldie, PSW’s and the doctors and nurses in the palliative unit for their kindness, support and care.

Your family is forever thankful for your precious time with us. May you forever be at peace, knowing how much you were loved, respected and cherished.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024 from 12-1 p.m. at Armstrong Funeral Home (124 King St. E., Oshawa). A Celebration of Life will follow in the Chapel at 1 p.m.

Terhi Russo, a beloved wife, mother of three, and woman of many talents, passed away on August 25, 2024, at the age of 54. Known for her deep love of family, sharp wit, and vibrant personality, Terhi defied the odds throughout her life. She was surrounded by her loved ones as she took her final journey.

Terhi was the cherished wife and best friend of Rosario for 38 years, a partnership that stood strong through life and remains unbroken in death. She was a devoted mother to her three children, Matteo, Ali, and Mia, who will continue to honor her legacy of strength and courage. She is predeceased by her parents, Antti and Virpi Eerikainen, as well as her in-laws, Antonio and Annunziata "Nancy" Russo. Terhi also leaves behind dear friends Laura and Leo Snider, and Christina Sullivan-Foster, with whom she was grateful to have reconnected.

Terhi's life was marked by her boundless energy, a unique sense of humor, and a passion for cooking. Her secret recipes, particularly her famous chili, remain treasured family mysteries. Animals, too, were drawn to her spirit, and she is now reunited with her dog, Libby. True to her nature, Terhi would want those who loved her to find joy and laughter in her memory.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time date.

Wallace ConradCONRAD, Wallace Erlin  - Passed away peacefully at home with his daughter Tina by his side on August 24, 2024.

Wallace Conrad, in his 82nd year leaves behind his children Kim Conrad (Keith Barranger), Tina Conrad and Steve Conrad (Dean Radcliffe).

Adored papa of Steven, Elishia & Tanis. Great grandpapa to Evelyn.

Dear brother of Madeline, Lloyd, Marshall, Jane, Celia, Granville & Isabel. Predeceased by his parents Nena & Vernon and siblings Margaret & Edgar.

Wallace will be lovingly remembered by family and friends in Ontario & Nova Scotia.

He was a proud retiree of General Motors after many years of service. In his early years Wallace served as a cook and worked on Canadian Navy Ships on the east coast. He also worked on oil rigs for many years. Wallace was an incredible “Jack of all Trades”, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t do, fix or figure out. He enjoyed wood working, music, playing the guitar and especially, spending time with his family.

As per Wallace’s wishes, A Private Family Celebration of Life will take place at a future date.

Surrounded by his family, Alan passed away peacefully on Friday August 23, 2024 at Toronto General Hospital.

Alan fought courageously and relentlessly with lung disease for 313 days in ICU to stay with his family, who were by his side every day, but in the end, it was all too much.

Alan leaves behind his beloved wife of 45 years Debbie, his devoted children Aaron (Carolyn) and Shannon (Mark) and his adoring grandchildren Mason, Spencer & Adley.

Brother of Murray (Lynda) and Darlene (David), and brother-in-law to Brenda (Floyd), Linda (Gary) & Harold (Christine). Uncle of Kevin, Christine, Michael, Kayla, Tyler, Alyssa, Julianna, Jessica & Devon.

Alan retired after many years in Commercial Property Leasing and Management, spending many years with Shoppers Drug Mart, Head Office.

Alan was always involved in sports and immersed himself coaching his children’s teams in baseball, hockey and soccer. His happy place was the cottage, enjoying a Miller Lite on the dock. Alans favourite times were spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, his proudest title was Papa. He was a steadfast and
loyal friend to many.

The family would like to send out a special and sincere thank you to Ali, TGH Patient Care Coordinator, who was relentless in her outstanding care and support for Alan and the entire family.

Please join with the family at ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME , 124 King Street East, Oshawa on Saturday September 7th for Visitation from 2pm to 4pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4pm.
Donations in memory of Alan can be made to Toronto Lung Transplant Club CIVITAN International.
