Keith Bentley Oldham

1929 – December 13, 2024

“May your journey through life be as happy as Charlotte’s and mine has been. Or happier, though that’s unlikely.”

In his own words, Keith Bentley Oldham always recognized when it was “time to move on,” and so, in his 96th year, after the arrival of a bevy of great-grandchildren, he passed peacefully into rest, with his wife Charlotte at his side, on Friday, December 13th, 2024.

Keith, affectionately known as "Bumpa," lived a full life enriched by his love of chemistry, travel, the outdoors, conversation, cards, music, and countless family gatherings. He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte (née Hocknell), and his younger brother Rob (Elaine). He was predeceased by his parents Harry & Phyllis Oldham and his older brother Eric (Joyce) of Ashton-under-Lyne, England.

Keith will be lovingly remembered by his children: Michael (Mireille), Paul (Liz), Eric (Rani), Helen (Michael), and Louise (Dan); his grandchildren: Michelle (Kai), Liana (Trevor), Véronique (Geoff), Robi, Josh (Lindsay), and Amelia (Keegan); and his great-grandchildren: Mateo, Mace, Raphaël, Pascal, and Charlotte. Extended family in England, Australia, and New Zealand; his Trent University colleagues and students; and friends from PROBUS Lakefield will also miss him deeply.

The family would like to thank the staff of Royal Gardens and the Peterborough Regional Health Center for their care and attention during Keith’s final year.

A service to celebrate Keith’s life will be held on January 2nd, 2025, at 11:30 AM at The Hendren Funeral Homes, Lakefield Chapel, 66 Queen Street, Lakefield, Ontario. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, Keith requested that donations be made to a charity of your choice. Donations may be made by contacting the funeral home at www.hendrenfuneralhome.com or by calling 705-652-3355.
