Thompson, Evelyn Joyce, peacefully in her sleep at Springdale Country Manor, Peterborough on Sunday, September 8, 2024 in her 93rd year. Evelyn, beloved wife of the late Lorne "Spike" Thompson. Loving mother of Timothy (Barb), Wayne (the late Chris), Sheila (Arthur Stacey) and the late Danny and Tracy. Proud grandma of Brett, Sarah, Erienne, Arthur, Darryl, Cora and great grandma of Hannah, Maisey, Nathan, Trevor, Julia, Sylvia, Mason and Avery.

A special thank you to the staff at Springdale Manor for their wonderful care.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ann Hilts on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024.

Ann was born to Margaret and William Skitteral (predeceased) on September 29th, 1954. She was the eldest daughter of five children. She became a cherished sister of Francis Glover, Cathy Wooldridge (Don) and was predeceased by her sister Rosemary Skitter and her brother Tom Skitteral.

Ann married her husband Bradley Hilts (predeceased) in 1973 and had four wonderful children; Heather Hilts, Sarah Hilts (Lee), Courtney Stephenson (Wesley) and Bradley Hilts (Jana), who will all miss her deeply.

Ann is also survived by her loyal and very special friend Edgar Leblanc who has always been by her side. He and his family will miss her greatly.

She will also be remembered fondly by her grandchildren, Madison, Nathaniel, Jacob, Keeley, Scotlynn, Sonata and Cole.

Ann was cherished by many family members and friends who will carry her memory with them.

Donations in Ann's name to Hearth Place Cancer Support Centre or a place of your choice would be greatly appreciated.

deceased-imgAngus (Gus) William Miller passed away at the Extendicare Rouge Valley in Scarborough on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at the age of 91 after an extended fight with Alzheimer's.

He maintained an active lifestyle which included downhill skiing until he was 81. He had to go that year as he could ski for free (over 80). He had lived a full life with multiple interests including the Theater (over 1300 shows), both attending and participating in (Oshawa Little Theatre), gardening, Photography, he also traveled worldwide including Spain, Cuba throughout the US, Beijing, and many others as well as frequent Cruises.

He was an early Associate/Owner of a Shoppers Drug Mart from about 1968, opening one of the first stores outside of Toronto in the Midtown Mall in Oshawa, until he semi-retire around 1988.

The youngest of 5 children born to Rev. William and Elsie Miller. Being the only boy, I’ve been told he got playfully spoiled.

He leaves his children Steve (Michele Barron) Miller, Ken (Doris) Miller, Kelli Miller-Woodcock and stepdaughter Cathy (Brayden) Legere as well as 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He will be reunited with his sisters Helen (Dave) Peters, Dell (George) Teeple, Jean (Alan) Furguson, Elsie (Chris) Huffman. Predeceased by his first wife Audrey Miller (Letcher) and his second wife Carol Miller (Ford)

Please join us in Celebrating His Life at Mount Lawn Funeral Home, 21 Garrard Road, Whitby, on Saturday September 21, 2024, Visitation will start at 1:00 p.m., with a Memorial Service starting at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Interment will follow at Mount Lawn Cemetery.

Dad will continue to be remembered of fondly and will always be missed.

deceased-imgRodney Cole (Rod) passed away peacefully on September 1, 2024 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa surrounded by family. The family would like to thank the Oshawa Lakeridge staff in the ICU. Nurses Emma, Toni and Andrea. As well as Dr Julia Coppens and Dr Danica Quickfall.

Rod was predeceased by his parents (Carol & Milford Cole), and brother (Shannon Cole).

Rodney will be remembered by his siblings Jeff (Tami), Crystal (Tyler), Troy (Sue) and Kyle (Angela). He will be missed by his nephews Brandon (Briana) Taylor (Carla), Alex (Holly), Tyler, niece Tyanna and his great nephews and niece.

A Celebration of life will be held at Mount Lawn Funeral Home, 21 Garrard Rd. Whitby, on September 11th 2024 from 4pm-7pm.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada in Rodney’s honour.

Peacefully on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Michael Garron Hospital in her 86th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband Brian. Aunt Ena will be lovingly remembered by her nieces Raynelle Green (Charlie), Sherry Hughes (Jim) and great nieces Melanie Green (Barrie), Katie Wilenski (Ryan), Hilary Siebert (Andrew), Kerri Truax (Scott) and Lisa Davies (Steve).

She will be sadly missed by her great great nieces and nephews Emmalee, Abby, Aiden, Taylor, Matthew, William, Grayson, Oliver, Zoey and Eddie as well as by her best friend Mamie Cameron and her children Christine, Robbie, Donna and her grandson Brian. As per Christina’s wishes a private cremation has taken place. She will be interred with her husband Brian at Highland Memory Gardens at a later date.

Sadly, but with love and gratitude, we share the peaceful passing of our dear mother, Barbara Ann Smith (nee Millar) on August 31, 2024, at the age of 92. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Winnifred Millar, her brothers John and Robert, and her sister Eleanor; she is survived by her husband of 70 years, Hugh, her children Beverly (John Hoefs), Douglas (Donna McAleer), Debra (Paul Caissie) and Glenn (Deb Thompson), her sisters, Jean and Margaret (Grenville Barnes) her grandchildren, Braden, Randy, Jeremy, Jean Paul, Annika, Chantelle, Jonathan, James, Melanie and Brianne, and her great grandchildren, Nora, Jack, Emmett, Willa and Isobel, along with countless relatives and friends who felt her warmth and generosity. Throughout her life, mom enjoyed cooking, horseback riding, antiquing, playing baseball, golf, gardening and caring for her many pets. But, her greatest passion was her family, and she surrounded them with unconditional love and support. Many thanks to Angie, Corrine and Tina for their exemplary home care. Visitation will take place Friday, September 6 at 9:30 am, to be followed by a Celebration of Life at 11 am, at Mount Lawn Funeral Home, 21 Garrard Road, Whitby, ON. Suddenly at his residence on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at the age of 75. Survived by his siblings Gladys Sundstrom and Tom and predeceased by his sister Wilma Heron. Bill will be remembered by his many nieces, nephews and friends.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Sarah Lynne Lafrance announce her sudden passing on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at the tender age of 24 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her parents: Sheila and the late Mike; her sisters: Connie (Shawn) and Lisa (Rich); Proud Grandmother: Wilma McGregor.

She will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by her Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Aunts, Uncles and Friends.

Sarah is predeceased by her Grandparents Bob McGregor, Rod Tinworth, Lucille Lafrance and Great Grandmother Joan Weales as well as aunts, uncles and special friends.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Cobourg Emergency Services, Police and Dr. Emery for your support and compassion during this difficult time.

Visitation will be held at Mount Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 21 Garrard Rd. Whitby, Ontario on Thursday, September 5th, 2024 from 12noon until the time of the Chapel service at 2pm. A reception will follow at the funeral home.

deceased-imgBROWN, Pearlene Brown - After a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and devotion, Pearlene Brown (née Hoilett) peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on July 31st, 2024, in her remarkable 92nd year. Predeceased by her husband, Percy Blagrove Brown, and son, Stanford Hermese Brown, she leaves behind a legacy of love, cherished memories, and a family who adored her.

Her children, Ray Llewellyn (wife Fanett), Janet Dunn (husband Kenneth), and Caroll Rattray (husband Dwain), were also the recipients of her boundless love and dedication. Her family was her pride and joy, and she was theirs. Five grandchildren (Abigail, Brian, Nicole, Steve, Sonnai) and seven great-grandchildren were also blessed to have her in their lives.

Pearl was the matriarch of her family, a pillar of strength, wisdom, and faith. Her home was a haven for family gatherings, filled with love, warmth, laughter, and delicious meals. Her love for the Lord Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. She was an active member of the Toronto New Covenant Cathedral (TNCC), a Ministry of The Church of God of Prophecy, for over 50 years, where she joyfully served the community, and vibrantly supporting the various ministries of the church.

Her life was a testament to her strength, perseverance, and unwavering faith. We, her family, are grateful for the breadth and gift of her life and the precious memories she leaves behind. We invite you to join us as we celebrate her outstanding life, and honour her lasting impact.

Visitation will take place at Mount Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery, 21 Garrard Rd., Whitby, ON, on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place at TNCC, 255 Blantyre Ave., Toronto, ON, on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. A final visitation will precede the service from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.
Interment will follow at Mount Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery. Following the formalities, friends and family will be invited back to the Mount Lawn Funeral Home Reception Hall for a time of fellowship and refreshments.

The family welcomes the gift of flowers and/or donations to the Alzheimer's Association in her honour.
