Sutton BrianSUTTON, Brian Dudley -

January 24, 1949 - May 24, 2023

Brian died peacefully, at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, on May 24th.

He was born in 1949 in Kingston, Ontario.

Predeceased by his mother, Margaret, in 2022; and his brother-in-law, Michael Shultz in 2009; he is survived by his father, Gerald; and siblings, Christine Johnson, Deborah Shultz and Malcolm Sutton (Sandy).

He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Brian had Down Syndrome.

He lived at home in Montreal as an active member of his family and attended schools operated by the Parent-Organized Association in Montreal. He learned and used the Montreal Transportation System (Metro and buses) to attend these schools, which were located on the other side of Montreal from home. Brian loved hockey and was an avid fan of the Montreal Canadiens. He watched all the games on TV, and knew the names of the teams and the players.

The family moved to Oakville, Ontario, in 1977, and Brian was enrolled in Community Living Oakville, initially in classes and then also in small group homes with friends he had made. A gentle and kind person, he was warmly regarded for his quiet disposition, his humour, his love of Big Band and classical music, and his participation in sports and work. Once in a while he created anxiety over escapades of exploration.

Members of the family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Community Living Oakville for their strong support and care during his declining years, especially while he was in palliative care in the hospital.

A Memorial Service will be held at the headquarters of Community Living Oakville, 302 Wyecroft Road, Oakville, on Wednesday, June 21st, from 1 to 3 p.m.
