HOWARD, Alla Jean Seeley (nee MacMILLAN)  -

1916 - 2023

The family is saddened to announce Allie's passing, on May 23, 2023, in her 107th year, following a brief decline.

Beloved wife of the late Robert (Bob) Howard and mother to the late Muriel Jean Howard, she was born December 25, 1916 in Campbellton, NB, to William Francis and Sarah Grace (Cooper) MacMillan.

The last of her generation, she was predeceased by sisters, Maxine White, Myrtle, and Helen; and by brothers, George, Jack, Sandy, Emery and Jim.

She was also predeceased by nephews, James and John; and nieces, Phyllis and Catherine.

Survived by nieces, Sandra Murray, Jeannie Graham, Sherry MacMillan, Maxine MacMillan, and Susan White; and nephew, Gerald; as well as brother-in-law, Wes Howard; and his daughters, Janis, Wanda and Leslie. She is remembered by a number of great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Allie left home for Ottawa, joining the Canadian government civil service, working in Ottawa and Washington during WWII.

She and Bob met at the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Navy - he as a paywriter and she as a stenographer.

Bob was posted to Belfast where the HMCS Bonaventure was being built, and they married there in 1956.

Allie returned to Canada in 1957. To her death, she steadfastly refused to divulge any WWII tales. Allie and Bob lived in Hamilton for a short time, settling in Guildwood Village, Scarborough, for many years.

Both were actively involved with Community Living and were supporting members of the West Hill United Church.

The family is grateful to the staff of Scarborough Retirement Residence.

Cremation has taken place and interment of ashes on August 29, 2023.
