Marjorie passed away peacefully, in Toronto, in the arms of her husband and three daughters on June 11, 2024, at the age of 88.
Beloved wife of Alex for 64 wonderful years.
Loving mother of Katherine (Peter), Laura (Marshall) and Barbara (Cameron). Devoted grandma of Kaitlin (Julien), Tristan, Jesse, Beatrice and Noel; and proud great-grandma of Benoît, Ellie and Henri.
Cherished aunty to Sarah, Soape and Eva; and her extended family in England.
Marjorie grew up in South Shields in the north of England. She met Alex at the age of 17 at a local dance, and it was love at first sight.
From that moment on, they were deeply in love and danced their way through the next 70 years together.
She impressed upon them the need for women to be able to support themselves and taught them the importance of kindness and empathy. She was a talented seamstress, a lovely cook, and a proud homemaker.
She gave thousands of children the gift of reading and created magic and wonder for the kids who were lucky enough to be in Mrs. P's class.
She was predeceased by her beloved childhood friend, Maureen, and will be greatly missed by her dear friends Violet, Georgie, Carol, Mary, Sue, and Alyssa, as well as by her network of close friends and teachers from Montreal.
Marjorie was the heart of our family—the caregiver who was always around to give support, with an ear that was always interested and ready to listen and a concerned "eee pet." She was our fiercest advocate. Marjorie was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
We'd like to extend our gratitude to Marjorie's caregivers (Malou, Yolly, Felice, and Lynne) and to the staff at Valleyview Residence, who without exception, made Marjorie feel loved, safe, and cared for during the last months of her life.
In lieu of flowers, we invite friends and family to make a donation to the charity of your choice. Marjorie would have been honoured to know that something positive was being done in her name.
