STERLING, Corey Wayne Sterling - November 7, 1970 – August 23, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Corey Wayne Sterling on August 23rd, 2024. Corey was loved by so many and loved others deeply. If you were lucky to know him you were blessed to experience that true loving heart he shared so freely. Corey always had an adventurous spirit that showed in his cooking, from fried rice with cut up hotdogs, to his peanut butter and onion sandwiches among his other “delicacies.” He was always excited when he talked someone into trying his crazy concoctions. Corey loved music for as long as we can remember, from a young age he would belt out Kiss’s Beth with his cousin Jamie. When our family moved to the townhouses there was no shortage of kitchen jam sessions with everyone in the neighborhood that wanted to join. It wasn’t out of the ordinary to see many guitars and even drums in our front yard. It would be living next door to the Penhale family, whose father Ray would further inspire Corey to follow his dreams of becoming a singer. He would go on to have success (and some wild times) with The Kenny Wayne Shepard Band, and The Chris Aaron Band. He is a legend still today to many and missed by his number 1 fans in Wisconsin.
Corey truly was a beautiful soul and really cared deeply about people, he loved playing games and had many friends because he was so darn loveable. He was truly lucky to have friends that supported him and loved him unconditionally, we couldn’t possibly mention them all, but you know who you are.
He will forever be missed by the love of his life and mother of his children Sandy Vlad, his children Cheyenne, Grayson and Jesse whom he loved like a son, his parents Robert Sterling, Susan McKenzie, predeceased by stepfather Donny McKenzie. Never to be forgotten by his siblings Todd, Angie, William, predeceased by Bobby and his wife Jenn, stepsister April (Al), as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
As much as we are devastated to lose him we take comfort in the fact that he has been reunited with his nephews Christian, Lukey and Leo whom he missed so much. We know he was greeted by his family Bobby, Donny, Dave, Michelle and Colin with a cold drink and his favourite songs.
Donations in his honour we ask to be made to Simcoe Hall Settlement House where his nephews Christian and Lukey enjoyed so much of their time. https://simcoehall.com/donate/
