CONNOLLY, Valda Antoninette (nee du PREEZ) - September 15, 1943 - June 5, 2021
We are heartbroken to announce that the centre of our universe; Valda Antoinette Connolly (nee du Preez), loving wife, adoring mother and cherished grandmother went home to God on Saturday, June 5, 2021.
She passed away in her garden, surrounded by her family.
Valda fought a brave and intense battle against stomach cancer. She will be greatly missed by her husband of fifty-two years, Michael, her daughters, Michele Toni and Jacqueline Lisa and her BFF and sidekick, her grandson Michael David.
Valda was born on September 15, 1943 in Cape Town, South Africa.

JOLLEY, Ronald Harry - February 22, 1951 - June 5, 2021
Peacefully, on June 5, 2021, at Weston Terrace Care Community in Toronto, at the age of 70.
Ron was predeceased by his parents Oswald and Betty Jolley and his brother, Ian.
Ron is survived by Ian's wife, Hilda and her children Christopher (Jesse) and Beth (Ben).
Ron will be remembered fondly by his good friends Peter and Sonya Koch and Bill Truhlar.
Ron worked many years selling motorcycle and snowmobile accessories at Cycle World on Dundas Street in Etobicoke.

McCOWAN, John Rae "Jack" - May 28, 1919 – June 5, 2021
Jack grew up on the family farm in Scarborough, at the foot of McCowan Road.
He is the last of the original McCowans as he was predeceased by his siblings: Robert (Bob), Helen (Lonnie), William (Bill) and James (Jim). He was the loving son of Harold and Janet.
He is survived by his wife Ethel (nee Britton), and sisters-in-law Nancy (nee Weir) and Pam (Morris).
He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Jack was a WWII Veteran of the RCAF.
Jack passed away peacefully, a week after celebrating his 102nd birthday.

SHERK, David Herbert - 1930 - 2021 I have sat at the banquet of Life long enough I have enjoyed what was on the table.
The menu no longer appeals to me Dwight Engel (2018) The Sherk Gang sadly announces the passing of their "Father who started it all" on Saturday, June 5, 2021.
Dave passed peacefully at Sherk's Shack, overlooking Georgian Bay, with his family by his side.
He leaves behind his wife of 70 years, Joan, and his children David (Marnie), Cindy, Kelly (Michael), Stephen (Katie), and Peter (Cindy).
Grandpa was loved by his 8 grandchildren Katie Sherk (Marc), Meghan Sherk (Dylan), Andrew MacKendrick (Eric), Cameron MacKendrick (David), Douglas MacKendrick (Michelle), Kasper Sherk (Sarah), Marshall Sherk (Alexandra), and Elijah Sherk.

MOORE, Carmel Teresa (nee Croke) - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Carmel Teresa Moore (nee Croke) on Friday June 4, 2021 at the age of 85.
Predeceased by our Father, Robert Franklin Moore on Nov. 2, 2016, they enjoyed 62 years of marriage.
Born in Grand Falls, Newfoundland on October 6, 1935, the youngest of 11 children to Sarah Estelle and John Croke, Carmel moved with family members to Toronto when she was 17.
She soon met the love of her life and was married on May 29, 1954. Life soon became even busier with the births of three daughters, Judy, Barbara and Roberta.

SMITH, Leslie Hugh 'Les' - Passed away peacefully on Friday, June 4, 2021 in Maple Grove Care Community at the age of 83.
He is survived by his Loving wife of 61 years Jean. Beloved father to Linda and predeceased by his son Michael. Proud grandfather to Ryan. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his extended family and friends.
Les had a very successful career at Harding Carpets. He enjoyed water colour painting (landscapes), playing the guitar and playing Crokinol with his grandson Ryan. Les and Jean enjoyed travelling to different countries.

BOCHER, Isaac - It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the sad news that our beloved father Isaac (Izzy/Zyskind) Bocher, brother to Rick Bocher and Helen Chen, father-in-law to Berkley Miller, grandfather to Autumn Rachel Love Bocher, uncle to Josh Bocher, Jake Chen, Mark Chen, and Orly Azraty, suddenly and unexpectedly passed away in the early morning of June 4th, 2021.

She is survived by her son Patrick and daughter Pauline.
Born on June 27, 1947 in Hong Kong, China, Fung Yee was the second youngest of four siblings. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, who always looked out for the well-being of everyone around her.

MARQUES, Manuel - (October 15th, 1950 - June 4th, 2021) -
Manuel was born in San Miguel, Azores, Portugal before immigrating to Canada with his family at the age of 13. Having lived a long and resilient life, he passed away peacefully at Etobicoke General Hospital.
A beloved son, brother, and uncle, he is survived by his sister Etelvina, as well as his nieces and nephews.
Manuel joins his mother Conceicao, his father Manuel Sr., his sister Lucy, and his brother-in-law Tony to enjoy a bucket of KFC in heaven.

33 - the number of years Mum spent at the Convent of Jesus and Mary (CJM) in Karachi as a primary school teacher. A young mother of 3 boys - yours truly and the other 2 - joined the teaching staff at CJM after having completed a professional teaching program in Karachi.

REINHARTZ, Henia (Rosenfarb) - November 3, 1926 - June 4, 2021
Passed away in Toronto at age 94 after a brief battle with COVID-19.
Born in Lodz, Poland, Henia, her mother and her sister were among the few survivors of the Holocaust from their large family. Together they rebuilt their lives, first in Belgium and then in Paris, where she met Nochem, her beloved husband of 59 years.
In 1951 Henia arrived in Canada, where she and Nochem built their family and lived for the rest of their lives.

Born in Toronto, June 2, 1965 to Robert and Mary McDonell, she is survived by her loving father Robert Joseph McDonell and her siblings, Anne Marie Wilson (Ron), Patricia Perek (John) and Robert John McDonell.
She was a loving Aunt to Sam, Catherine, Samantha, and Great Aunt to Oliver.
Joanne was a person you could count on and devoted her life to helping others. She provided care for her mom and dad and was always there to support her brother and sisters in their times of need.

DAVIS, Bella Rumi (Shitami) - April 4, 1971 - June 4, 2021 - After a courageous 18 month battle with cancer, Bella passed away at Markham-Stouffville Hospital on Friday June 4, 2021.
Bella was born on April 4, 1971 in Toronto, Canada and resided in the GTA her entire life. She enjoyed road trips in her beloved Jeep and travelled well during her life.

AMALIA, Laurel - Was diagnosed with stage 4, small cell lung cancer on February 4, 2021. She received palliative care at home and died on Friday, June 4, 2021 after a short stay in palliative care at Sunnybrook hospital.
She was born in a car in Hammond, Indiana on May 10, 1939, the fourth girl in a row to a catastrophically dysfunctional family of five children (thanks to Dr. Howard Eisenberg for helping me learn that there is a lot more to life than being depressed all the time).
Earned a BSc in agriculture (economics), 1961 (The Ohio State University) and an MSc in journalism, 1965 (University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana).
Met and married a Canuck in 1962 (freed at last in 1986).
